A new water tender for urban areas: light, functional and well-designed

05 декабря, 2016 года

It is always good when a fire truck is distinguished not only with high quality and performance, but also a wonderful exterior! All this is true for the new water tender intended for urban areas which is manufactured the Unimod company. The manufacturing process was exciting and fruitful. In this fire truck we applied many design solutions that have been on the way for a long time. The AC-3.0-40 on the KAMAZ 4326 chassis with 4х4 drive wheel configuration combines the whole range of qualities that make a fire truck indispensable for firefighters – it is comfortable, ergonomic, reliable and, of course, has a nice exterior.  The design of a fire truck is not only about its exterior, but also its functionality, because each element is useful and has its own purpose.

The fire-fighting equipment compartments are made of aluminum and are covered with aluminum sheets inside. This technology is relatively new for our plant but it is already widely used due to the excellent anti-corrosive properties of aluminum. Resistance to moisture is one of the main requirements for modern fire engines. This is by no way surprising! It is difficult to imagine a vehicle that is subjected to water more often and for longer peropds of time. The vehicle's water and foam tanks are made of plastic, and it makes it light and durable. The lightweight design makes it more maneuverable and rapid, which is undoubtedly important for a fire truck.

The use of plastic enabled us to produce the ergonomically designed water tender. Thanks to an innovative design solution, the tank with the same working capacity is located transversely, as a result, the fire superstructure is arranged compactly and there is more place for firefighting equipment. This vehicle is equipped with a crew cabin that has four seats. It is reliably fixated to the main cabin, forming a common space that allows the fighters to control the situation, plan their actions on the fire site together. The crew cabin module is made of multi-layered composite with heat-insulating foam interlayer. As a result, the vehicle is kept warm for a long time and can be successfully used even in northern regions.

The firefighting equipment compartments are equipped with flap doors with convenient handles; the firefighting equipment is arranged and secured in the compartments based on a multi-unit fixation system for the firefighting equipment Multimount that was designed on the basis of polyurethane elastomers.

Another advantage of the vehicle is that the position of the doors can be controlled directly from the cabin. For this purpose there is a special indication that signals when the shutters of the side compartments or the door of the rear one are opened. A combined fire pump Johstadt NP-3000, mounted in the rear compartment of the vehicle has two modes: normal and high pressure.

This vehicle was the first to be equipped with pneumatic bottom steps that fold automatically when opening the doors. It was developed by the specialists of our plant.

Thanks to the bulwarks, which fixate the "upper" firefighting equipment on the top of the water tender, its design is complete and compact. In addition, the bulwarks protect firefighting equipment located on the top from damaging.

The lighting system deserves special attention. Above each compartment are special spotlights, providing excellent visibility in low-light conditions.

This vehicle perfectly passed all tests and joined the customer's firefighting fleet. We are sure that this fire truck will prove to be a fast, lightweight and ergonomic vehicle, reliable in urban areas.
