Our trucks were involved in extinguishing a fire in a barrack
Despite the accelerated pace of housing, the resettlement of people living in dilapidated barracks, built in the previous century, is moving very slowly. These buildings have served their time and often pose a threat to the lives of the residents.
According to RIA Novosti, a two-storey barrack caught fire last week. The fire broke out late at night, when the residents were about to go to bed. The hot spot was on the top of the building. Having embraced the roof, the fire spread to the stairwell of the eight-apartment building. Firefighters responded quickly, but due to the structural features of the building, almost the whole house was in flames. The rescue operation was complicated by the metal bars on windows on ground-floor apartments.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of the fire brigades and our fire-fighting equipment they managed to rescue 8 people. Agents of the Ministry of Emergency Situations removed metal bars with the help of a pry bar, and, therefore, succeeded in rescuing 5 residents, including a child. Two people managed to go down on their own using our three-section ladder, and firefighters had to carry out s woman poisoned by carbon monoxide. According to eyewitnesses, our equipment did great. There were no interruptions in water supply or any other failures.
In total, it took less than an hour to rescue the people and extinguish the fire. 18 employees of Fire Department and 4 units of special equipment took part in fighting the fire. The affected area was reported to cover 150 square meters. The building cannot be reconstructed. The issue of providing housing to the fire victims is being resolved.
